He attended the 2006 Pylon Racing Seminar and began an outstanding rookie year with his first official race at the 2006 Reno National Air Races, where he placed eighth in the final Gold race.

Doug has deployed in support of numerous wartime and contingency operations that include Desert Shield/Storm, the Balkan wars, Somalia, Rwanda, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Southern Watch. He has over 5,000 hours flying military and civilian aircraft.
Doug has recently taken on a part-time position flying Medical Air Rescue out of the Rapid City Airport.
The time not consumed by duties as an Air Force officer, Doug spends his time managing the race team, preparing for races and flying his Mooney 201 with his wife, Dana, and their three children, Julia (11), Nicole (8), and Luke (4).
Doug’s passion for flying and interest in airplanes has led to his participation in the Local EAA Chapter 39 and the South Dakota Civil Air Patrol. Doug has enjoyed volunteering to fly children in his Mooney for the EAA’s Young Eagles program.
